Keynote Speakers

The following speakers have confirmed participation in the congress and will deliver keynote lectures during the opening ceremony on Tuesday the 25th of August:

Keynote Speaker

Professor; Noranda Chair in International Trade and Development Ph.D. (L.S.E., 1997), M.Sc. (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sc Sociale, 1992), M.A. (Sorbonne University, 1991), HEC (School of Management, Paris, 1991)

Professor Gilles Duranton is the Noranda Chair in International Trade and Development. He received his HEC from the School of Management, Paris, his M.A. from the Sorbonne Unversity, and Ph,D from the London School of Economics. His research focuses on urban economics and international trade and he has been received several honours during his career including the August Lösch Prize in 2006 and Philip Leverhulme Prize in 2004. He was also asked to be a member of the Economic Policy Panel in 2006.

Andreas FALUDI (1940, Budapest, Hungary) has chair in Spatial Policy Systems. Andreas studied architecture and urban planning at Vienna University of Technology where he did his doctorate in 1967. His teaching career started at the Oxford Polytechnic (1968-1973), followed by chairs in Urban Planning at Delft University of Technology (1974-7), in Planning at the University of Amsterdam (1977-1998) and a personal chair at Radboud University Nijmegen (1999-2004).

He was visiting professor at the Western Australian Institute of Technology, the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Malta, the University of Bari, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Aalborg University, Harvard University, Vienna University of Technology, the University of Vienna and the University of Marseille-Aix-en-Provence III.
