Tuesday (25th August)

Jewish cemetry

















Tour: Jewish Cemetery walking tour.

TOUR DETAILS:
Start Point: the Main Gate at Bracka Street (junction of Bracka Street and Chryzantem Street)
Time: 9.30 a.m.
Duration: 2 – 2,5 hours
How to get to the cemetery: Tram No 1, 6
Bus/tram stop at the junction of Palki Street and Wojska Polskiego Street

Tour program includes a visit to the Jewish cemetery at Bracka street, that was founded in 1892 and is said to be the biggest Jewish cemetery in Europe. It is estimated that about 160.000 people are buried there. The graves of rich industrialists, doctors and rabbis are real masterpieces. The Mausoleum of Izrael Poznanski is considered to be the largest and most beautiful Jewish tomb all over the world and there are over 43.000 people buried in the part of the cemetery called the Ghetto Field. They are the victims of the Holocaust.

Wednesday (26th August)

KSIEZY MLYN (Priest’s Mill)



















Tour: Ksiezy Mlyn (Priest’s Mill) walking tour and visit to the Museum of Cinematography.

Time: 9.30 a.m.
Duration: 2,5 – 3 hours

Tour program includes visit to the 19th c. industrial district where it is said the time stopped. You will stroll through the huge complex of functionally related facilities that consists of plants like spinning - mills, palaces, a fire - station, a hospital, a school, shops and workers’ houses. One of the palaces now houses the unique Museum of Cinematography.

Thursday (27th August)

PIOTRKOWSKA STREET

















Tour: Piotrkowska Street walking tour and visit to the Detka Museum.

TOUR DETAILS:
Start Point: Reymonta Square (at the Monument of Wladyslaw Reymont)
Time: 9.30 a.m.

Tour program includes a walk along the Piotrkowska Street that is considered to be the most elegant street of Lodz. Strolling down the street you will visit beautiful tenement houses and palaces that used to belong to rich industrialists and financiers, both Jewish and German. It is here that major public administration offices, banks, pubs, restaurants and shops are located. The Piotrkowska Street is said to be the historical and culture center of Lodz.The tour will end in the Wolnosci Square where you will visit “Detka” that is a subterranean reservoir museum. It is the only one such a museum in Poland.

Rogów arboretum

























Tour: Rogow bus tour and visit to the arboretum.

Tour program includes visit to the Rogow Arboretum that is one of the most famous and largest botanic gardens in Poland. It covers an area of over 50 ha and the collection contains about 2500 species and varieties of trees and shrubs from different part of the world.
