Special tours and excursions will be arranged exclusively for the Delegates and Accompanying persons at the ERSA 2012 Congress.

  • All tours will leave from and return to the Congress Venue.
  • A minimum number of participants is 15.
  • Congress Organizer reserves the right to cancel the tour for which a minimum number of participants have not registered.
  • In this case another tour will be offered or a refund will be paid after the Conference.
  • Booking in advance is recommended, on-site availability cannot be guaranteed.

HALF DAY TOURS


1/ Bratislava Highlights

This bus tour will give you a general impression of the city. We pass the most important places, historical and cultural sights, stopping at Bratislava Castle, Napoleon’s Hill and Slavin with their splendid panoramic views.
On our walk through the pedestrian zone of Old Town we take a look at St. Michael’s Gate, the first University Istropolitana, St. Martin’s Cathedral (where the coronations were performed), the Primate’s Palace, the Old Town Hall and finishing the tour at the Opera House.

This bus tour take to see Bratislava‘s most prominent historic and cultural sights outside the Old Town. You will visit the Bratislava Castle and enjoy the splendid panoramic views of the city.
It continues with a drive along the Danube to the magnificent ruins of the Devin Castle situated above the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers. It was blown up by Napoleon’s troops in 1809; Devin Castle offers breath-taking views of the neighboring Austria and on a clear day the peaks of the Alps.

This tour invites you to know Bratislava from one other side. It is youthful city and on weekend nights the streets in Old Town are buzzing with life as the crowds move from vine cellar to cocktail bar following the laser beam that points down Michalska Street towards the heart of the action. A half-day tour to a region which has been known for its wine since Roman times. We drive you to explore the surroundings of Bratislava with many quaint villages and historic towns. Typical for this region are vineyards on the slopes of the Little Carpathians. Apart from great wines this area is also known for beautiful pottery and naive art. The tour goes through the ancient royal wine towns of Svaty Jur, Pezinok and Modra, highlighting the most important sights. We will also see how the famous Modra pottery – majolica – is produced. The highlight of this tour is a visit to Cerveny Kamen (Red Rock Castle) – a wonderfully preserved castle, which ranks among the best preserved in Slovakia, with huge multi-storey cellars, the largest ones in Central Europe. The tour finishes in the historic wine cellar sampling the best local wines.

On this sightseeing tour, discover the old historic towns and villages of Slovakia. Steeped in history, these quaint little towns have much to offer . Enjoy sightseeing in the 13th century city of Trnava. The oldest free royal borough Trnava was the Church "capital" of the Kingdom of Hungary for several centuries in the past. Now it is the center of the dynamically developing area that stretches between Bratislava and Nitra. Trnava is the seat of the University, and since 1978 the Slovak metropolitan seat of archbishop. The center of the town has been designated the Town Monument Reserve in 1987.
Piestany has the best known spa resort in Slovakia. Visitors come from all over the world for the warm springs that are said to have curative properties. Hot springs with temperatures of 67-69°C, as well as its healing mud, originating at 2000 m depth on the Spa Island in the Vah River were known for ages. The architecturally interesting Colonnade Bridge connects the quiet pedestrian Old Town lined with little shops and cafés with the Spa Island, where elegant historic buildings of the spas surrounded by a beautiful historic park with ponds fed from the hot springs.

To reach Vienna we will drive through Hainburg a town with rich history and monuments and pass Heathen’s gate, the best known monument from the time of Roman province of Pannonia. Next there is a drive along the Ringstrasse with its magnificent buildings such as Parliament, the State opera, City Hall and many others. We will also visit the imperial winter residence Hofburg and walk to St. Stephan Cathedral. After a lunch break we will visit the imperial summer residence in Schönbrunn.

The most southerly point in Moravia is an area of meadow woods, snow-white rock vineyards and fields .The unique Lednice-Valtice area is a protected landscape area listed by UNESCO. It is a comprised of a chateau, park buildings and landscape features in the region between the Romance chateau in Lednice and the Baroque chateau in Valtice. A must see is Lednice Chateau, the pearl of Moravia which is situated in the extensive natural area on the embankment of the Dyje River. It was residential place of Lichtenstein family till the end of World War II.

Mikulov is historical, cultural and tourist Centre of the region below Palava. For many the reasons for a visit include history embodied in architectural monuments, and for nature lovers and people preferring active rest it is the unique natural conditions of the region. The former Liechtenstein and later Diestrichstein chateau on the rock has been a unique dominant of the Mikulov skyline for centuries. The local Jewish cemetery, one of the largest Jewish burial places in the Czech Republic is a relic of the famous Mikulov ghetto.
The town of Valtice contains one of the most impressive Baroque residences of Central Europe. The palace is surrounded by an English park with the Temple of Diana (1812) and other neoclassical structures. The area Valtice is the famous of production wine as red wine as white wine. During the wine tasting an expert in wine production explain everything about secrets of this beverage.
