The essential contribution of the proposed workshop is to shed light on the micro foundation of the role that entrepreneurship plays in the various views and interpretations of the link between knowledge, its creation and economic growth. These views and interpretations are often confined to specific fields within economics and related disciplines which are as diverse as evolutionary, entrepreneurial, institutional and regional economics, economic geography, endogenous growth, industrial dynamics, strategic management, and development economics. We want to bring together leading scholars in these fields to discuss and exchange views on the specific role of entrepreneurship and to build bridges over the boundaries of the specific approaches.
