This year’s workshop will focus on the discussion of up-to-date methods and tools for the empirical testing of theories in regional and urban economics. Distinguished scholars will present the results of their recent research in three areas: (1) Spatial econometrics, (2) Panel data analysis, and (3) Applications with micro-data.
The lectures of the Workshop will be given by Badi Baltagi (Syracuse University), Uwe Blien (University of Bamberg), Paul Elhorst (Groningen University), Julie LeGallo (Université de Franche-Comté, CRESE), Stefano Magrini (Università degli Studi di Venezia "Ca’ Foscari"), Henry Overman (London School of Economics), and Peter Pedroni ( Williams College).

• Determinants of the evolution of location patterns of new industries;
• Public policies to promote the emergence and regional growth in new industries;
• The role of inter-firm networks in the emergence of new industries;

The conference is organized jointly by the PLUREL project; ASEM 4th Symposium on Urban Forestry; Landscape Tomorrow; Danish Association of Landscape Ecologists; & Danish Architecture Centre.
The conference aims to i) present the status of scientific approaches to assess the peri-urban land-use relationships and associated effects on sustainability, ii) to set the agenda for future research in the field, and iii) enhance international research cooperation. The event targets a broad spectrum of participants, recognising the multidisciplinarity of research in urban-rural linkages. This includes, but is not limited to, those in the fields of land use, urban and rural development, planning, architecture, geography, economics, social and environmental sciences, urban forestry and urban greening. Contributions may address methodological, theoretical issues, applications or dissemination, and participatory aspects.

The research group GAEC is organizing the Fourth seminar of Spatial Econometrics in honour of Doctor J.H.P. Paelinck, in Oviedo (Spain). The conference aims to provide a forum for debate between young and consolidated researchers and it is open to both theoretical and applied papers which deal explicitly with questions of spatial modelling.
The focus of the 4th seminar will be ’Nonlinearity and Causality in Spatial Econometrics’.
The seminar is structured on a series of invited lectures around which four open sessions will be held dedicated to the contributions received and selected by the conference Scientific Committee.

The XXXVI Regional Studies Meeting organized by the Spanish Regional Science Association (AECR) will be held in partnership with the Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR) in the towns of Badajoz (Spain) and Elvas (Portugal). The main topic of this International Meeting on Regional Science is "THE FUTURE OF THE COHESION POLICY."
The meeting will begin with a workshop, whose topic is “Frontiers and Regional Development”, in Elvas (Portugal) on Wednesday, November 17, 2010. The meeting will continue with the lectures and the presentations of papers about the different subject areas, on Thursday 18 and Friday, November 19 in Badajoz (Spain).
